Description

A pack of 100 cotton wicks, used in traditional Indian rituals to light fire during the puja, that can be lit with a candle or a matchstick. Aarti is a ritual of worship in which lights are waved in front of the idol of a deity while chanting the name of the deity. Aarti is done with the use of a lighted wick or cotton. With this cotton wick, the Hindu deity is honored by making an offering of ghee to the deity. The ghee is poured over the cotton wick and it catches fire. It is then waved in front of the deity. The offering is believed to be transferred to the deity and it is taken back in the form of light. The cotton wick with ghee is then placed on the ground and set aflame, symbolizing the merging of the material world with the spiritual world.
