This is a collection of conversations between the author and dead people. The dead people in this book are not celebrities or loved ones, but friends and neighbors. This book is based on the premise that the dead people might have something to say. This novel tells the story of an American woman named Esther who, with her sister-in-law, visits the sacred Hindu temple of Ayodhya in India. There, Esther and her sister-in-law come across a group of sadhus, or holy men. The men are said to be able to communicate with the dead and to be able to speak with the living, too. Esther believes that she is the reincarnation of the mother of Hinduism, and she believes that she can talk to her deceased mother through the sadhus.
